Thompson HCMS’s base mechanical scope included disassembly of the unit, inspection of components, and documentation of the as-found condition. Thompson Construction Group (TCG) partnered with Jenkins Electric to perform the base generator scope, including a rewind and edge-wound rotor poles. A core loop test indicated that the stator core required restacking.
Thompson HCMS provided a complete report of all major components to Dominion Energy. The report included cost estimates to repair or replace each component. Dominion Energy elected to proceed with replacement.
TCG subcontracted the production of all major components to Litostroj. These components included the runner, bottom ring, wicket gates, head cover, gate arm assemblies, shift ring, turbine guide bearing, shaft, and thrust assembly.
Thompson Construction Group also worked with Dominion Energy on the balance of plant (BOP) work, which was performed during this outage window.
