Thompson Turner Construction, in collaboration with Collins & Almers Architecture, transformed a 75,000 SF warehouse in Florence, SC, into a new regional hub for Harvest Hope Food Bank. Replacing the organization’s former 30,000 SF facility at the Pee Dee State Farmers Market, the new space significantly expands storage, volunteer engagement, and logistics capacity.

Delivered in two phases, the project was designed to allow for continued operations while construction progressed.

Phase 1 focused on creating 35,000 SF of operational warehouse space. Thompson Turner completed selective demolition, upgraded MEP systems to support cold storage infrastructure, and installed walk-in coolers, freezers, and food-safe ventilation systems. To maximize storage efficiency, the team also erected high-capacity pallet racking systems—boosting pallet storage from 140 to more than 500. Additional improvements included new loading docks, truck circulation enhancements, and industrial lighting to support a more efficient flow of goods. Early occupancy coordination enabled Harvest Hope to relocate into the new warehouse and continue distribution operations while the remainder of the building was still under renovation.

Phase 2 focused on building out office, volunteer, and community engagement spaces. This included administrative offices, conference rooms, and packing areas. Exterior improvements—such as upgraded site lighting, reconfigured parking, enhanced drainage, and new signage—created a functional campus environment.

The completed facility strengthens Harvest Hope’s long-term capacity and resilience, providing a modern, efficient, and community-focused headquarters that advances its vital mission of helping families across the Pee Dee.
