Thompson HCMS completed a 4XA 22.9-foot diameter turbine runner refurbishment. The scope of work included removal of the discharge ring, blades, Kaplan oil pipes, and runner.
The runner hub internals were re-machined and line-bored to repair out-of-tolerance and damaged components. New piston and blade seals were designed and installed. All runner bushings and seals were replaced as part of the refurbishment process.
Following completion of the refurbishment work, the unit was reassembled and commissioned.
