Thompson Turner Construction’s Industrial Building Group was selected to execute the design and construction of NOVA Molecular Technologies’ “green field” chemical purification facility in Sumter, SC through a CM At-Risk delivery method. The facility provided new growth potential for the established company and gave Thompson Turner Construction an opportunity to construct another project for the betterment of our hometown.
The project consisted of four main manufacturing distilling columns, the plant utility building, chemical storage tanks, a state-of-the-art plant operations building, rail access, and complete truck loading and unloading facilities. Thompson Turner Construction used our relationship with Nucor Building Systems to facilitate the utility building construction, conventional framing design and construction to complete the production area, and cast-in-place concrete construction to complete the blast-resistant control building.
The project showcased an impressive chemical processing facility that served to refurbish rather than waste resources for an ecological benefit, and we were honored to be a part of the project from its conception.
