Thompson Turner Construction presided as the General Contractor for Nucor Steel's tube mill expansion at the Gallatin location in Ghent, Kentucky. This facility works in conjunction with existing plants to turn steel coils into tubing varying in size from 4 to 10 inches.
The Thompson Turner Construction team directly oversaw all building and equipment foundations, building erection, underground electrical, embedded conduit, lighting, piping, and pipe supports for the facility.
This project was a major success in leveraging the plethora of resources within Thompson Construction Group with both the foundation and electrical work being contracted to our capital project's division. Work directly managed by Thompson Turner exceeded 340,000 man hours with Thompson Construction having performed over 225,000 of these hours.
