Thompson Turner Construction served as the CM At-Risk for the new Quixote Clubhouse in Sumter, SC, a modern reimagining of the historic Sunset Country Club site—one of the oldest golf courses in the Santee region. Designed by Harbison Architects, the project involved the renovation and expansion of the former 16,000 SF clubhouse into a 20,000 SF luxury facility that blends seamlessly into the surrounding landscape.

Located between the #1 tee box and the 18th green, the clubhouse features an overhanging terrace that offers panoramic views of the 6,800-yard, par-70 golf course. A floating porte-cochere with sleek, minimal support beams welcomes guests with a striking first impression, while expansive windows cascade natural light over a grand interior staircase. Throughout the facility, refined finishes and thoughtfully integrated architectural elements reflect the club’s commitment to elegance, comfort, and connection with nature.

The clubhouse is part of the larger Quixote Club experience, which includes a 42,000 SF putting course and other amenities. The club supports educational advancement through its Quixote Foundation, which benefits the Sumter, SC Liberty STEAM Charter School.
