Thompson Turner Construction expanded the Bethea Retirement Community, a project designed to elevate senior living through modern, resident-focused design, via CM At-Risk. The 8-acre development introduced two single-story skilled nursing buildings totaling 44,064 SF, offering 88 private rooms arranged in a “household model” that emphasizes privacy and comfort. This layout, the first of its kind in the Pee Dee region, features residential style living spaces that foster community engagement and personal well-being.
Thompson Turner also constructed a 13,700 SF single-story building to house clinic, administration, and therapy support areas, enhancing the continuum of care available on the campus. Additionally, we constructed nine duplex cottages, ranging from 1,600 to 2,550 SF each, to provide independent living options that blend with the existing community.
Site work encompassed grading, utility installation, and hardscaping to create a walkable campus environment that supports both independent and assisted living.
The expansion was designed to complement the existing facility while meeting modern standards for long-term care, senior wellness, and residential quality.
