Brookland-Cayce High School Arena

Thompson Turner Construction, working alongside Jumper Carter Sease Architects, served as CM At-Risk for the new Brookland-Cayce High School Arena, a 43,000 SF athletics facility constructed as part of a Lexington County School District Two bond referendum. Located on an active campus in Cayce, SC, the project required extensive planning and coordination to minimize disruption to school operations and surrounding properties while ensuring a safe, efficient construction process.
The facility features a 1,500-seat NCAA regulation basketball arena, along with a weight room, training spaces with interior and exterior synthetic turf, locker rooms for home and away teams, equipment storage, a concessions area, and office space. Supporting site scope included new hardscaping, paving, and landscaping. The arena was designed to complement the architecture of the existing campus and adjacent football stadium—also built by Thompson Turner Construction.
Given the site’s location adjacent to a shared bus loop, retail businesses, banking institutions, and a busy thoroughfare, access and logistics planning were critical. All construction traffic and deliveries were scheduled around student drop-off and pick-up times, coordinated through daily meetings with school administrators. A designated off-site parking area was secured to prevent contractor traffic from intersecting with student and faculty pathways.
The facility hosted the Duke Blue Devils basketball team during NCAA March Madness tournament activities the year of project completion.
