Thompson Turner Construction was hired by Clemson University as the CM At-Risk to renovate the Jervey Gymnasium and build the new Watt Family Athletic Performance and Wellness Center to provide a state-of-the-art facility for the Volleyball, Sports Medicine, and Strength and Conditioning programs.

The 50,000 SF, three-story Performance and Wellness Center features a Strength and Conditioning Center, Wellness and Recovery Space, Hydrotherapy and Recovery Pools, a Sports Medicine Clinic, a Gatorade Fuel Bar, Sports Nutrition Services, and a Bistro with Outdoor Dining Terrace. Designed to cascade from the edge of Jervey Gym toward Track Drive, the building adapts to the grade change while providing internal connections and a shared lobby with Jervey Gym. The east elevation follows the curve of Perimeter Road, creating a 40-yard dash area on the mezzanine level. Structural columns support a covered walkway along the south side, and expansive glass curtain walls  enhance visibility and connection to the outdoors. A new two-story lobby serves as the primary entrance for volleyball fans on game days.

The renovation of the ground level of Jervey Athletic Center created a new Volleyball Suite, featuring a team meeting room, lounge, nutrition spaces, locker room, and film room. The new “hype tunnel” connects this suite to the competition area in the renovated Jervey Gym. The roof of Jervey Gym was raised by 12 feet to exceed NCAA height standards for volleyball. Upgrades include new bleacher seating, audio systems, lighting fixtures, scoreboard, video board, and an elevated Premium Ace’s Club, all designed to enhance the experience for fans.
