Thompson Turner Construction, in partnership with Brasfield & Gorrie, provided CM At-Risk services for the multi-phase renovation of Clemson University’s Memorial Stadium, enhancing both the fan experience and team facilities.

Phase 1 focused on significant upgrades to the West End Zone, including the addition of premium seating areas and club spaces. Notably, the Masters Club was introduced, offering over 600 new seats and amenities comparable to the WestZone and Younts South Club. Fan experience was further elevated with the installation of a new 126-foot wide by 56.5-foot tall videoboard—ranking as the eighth largest in the NCAA at the time—and a state-of-the-art sound system. Accessibility improvements were also made, adding ADA-compliant seating and enhancing overall stadium access.

Phase 2 encompassed the renovation of the football team's locker room and associated game-day spaces, as well as the overhaul of the Rogers Family Lot to enhance the Tiger Walk experience. This included the importation of 25,000 cubic yards of fill, regrading, and the installation of new hardscaping and landscaping features. The redesigned Tiger Walk now features a brick walkway, enhanced lighting, and over 100 new trees, creating a more pedestrian-friendly and aesthetically pleasing environment.

Throughout the project, the team developed an accelerated schedule to complete work within the 9-month off-season, employing a phased GMP approach to ensure timely material procurement amidst post-pandemic shortages. Preconstruction efforts included the development of a waterproofing remediation plan for a 40,000 SF elevated topping slab and the creation of a campus-friendly logistics plan. Construction activities were carefully coordinated to avoid impacting campus operations, with special attention given to utility re-routing and the alignment of the Tiger Walk with the Oculus and Hill.

This comprehensive renovation project not only modernized Memorial Stadium but also reinforced Clemson University's commitment to providing top-tier facilities for its athletes and fans.
