Thompson Turner Construction served as CM At-Risk for the renovation of the College of Charleston’s Ballpark at Patriots Point, home to Cougar Baseball. Designed in collaboration with McMillan Pazdan Smith, the project enhanced the 2001-built facility with modern amenities and community-focused features. The renovation included the installation of covered, chair-back seating to accommodate up to 2,000 spectators, along with a new steel-framed roof structure to protect attendees while preserving sightlines of the scenic Cooper River and Ravenel Bridge. The press box was expanded to include two radio booths, and a hospitality deck was added to optimize game-day experiences. New backstop netting was installed at both the baseball and adjacent softball fields to improve safety, and the site received upgraded sidewalks, landscaping, a speaker system, and enhanced fiber-optic infrastructure.

Thompson Turner Construction also laid foundational piles in anticipation of a future covered soccer field, reflecting long-term athletic planning for the Patriots Point complex. The result is a revitalized home for Cougar athletics: a scenic, safe, and sophisticated ballpark with improved performance facilities and fan amenities that support College of Charleston’s competitiveness and community engagement
