Thompson HCMS was contracted by Brookfield Renewable to complete a turbine and generator overhaul at the Fife Brook unit.

The Fife Brook unit has been operating since 1974 and has only undergone minor overhauls during that time. Several components of the unit are now reaching the end of their service life, requiring major rehabilitation to support continued long-term operation.

The goal of the turbine and generator overhaul project is to extend the overall life of the power unit equipment components. The scope of work includes rehabilitation of the existing runner, replacement of the stator armature winding, and re-insulation of the rotor field winding.

Additional work includes the replacement of specified components, including but not limited to the existing wicket gates, wearing rings and facing plates, gate stem bushings, and coupling hardware, as well as rehabilitation of other turbine and generator components.
