Thompson Turner Construction, in partnership with Jumper Carter Sease Architects, was selected by Greenwood School District 50 to deliver comprehensive Design-Build athletic facility upgrades at Emerald and Greenwood High Schools in Greenwood, SC.
The scope included the removal of existing natural turf and installation of synthetic turf at each high school’s competition stadium, along with the replacement of the track surfaces with poured-in-place, rubberized six-lane systems. Additional improvements included the construction of new press boxes at each school’s softball field. At Greenwood High School, the press box included a lower-level housing concessions and restrooms, while Emerald High School’s press box provided essential storage space. These athletic upgrades were designed to enhance student-athlete performance and spectator experience while minimizing long-term upkeep for the District.
