Thompson Turner Construction partnered with Nucor to deliver the Quality Assurance Line facility in Darlington, South Carolina. Designed in collaboration with MAIR Research, based in northern Italy, the project integrates advanced processing technology to support a fully streamlined steel production workflow.
The facility is designed to receive raw steel rods directly from the adjacent Nucor plant and process them through a series of automated systems, including cutting, cleaning, straightening, demagnetizing, chamfering, and final bundling for distribution to customers across the United States. This seamless integration enhances operational efficiency, reduces handling, and improves overall product quality.
The project consists of approximately 73,000 square feet and includes the main processing building, administrative office space, as well as dedicated areas for parts storage, mechanical systems, and electrical infrastructure. The facility was constructed to support specialized equipment, precise material handling requirements, and the operational demands of a high-performance industrial environment.
