Presbyterian Communities of SC Foothills Campus
Thompson Turner Construction is serving as CM At-Risk for a major expansion and renovation at Presbyterian Communities of South Carolina’s Foothills Retirement Community in Easley. The project enhances the campus experience by expanding independent living options, adding new memory care accommodations, improving shared community spaces, and supporting residents as their needs evolve over time.
The expansion includes The Terraces, a new independent living neighborhood with four residential buildings designed to complement the existing campus and surrounding landscape. Three of the buildings are organized around a new amenity pond and clubhouse, while a fourth connects directly to the main campus. The project also includes new Vertical Villa residences with dedicated parking, along with additional residential options that broaden the continuum of care available to residents.
A new single-story memory care building will provide a safe, comfortable, and residential-scale environment centered around an enclosed courtyard. Designed to support connection to the outdoors, the memory care neighborhood expands the campus’s assisted living services while maintaining a warm and familiar setting for residents.
The project also includes significant renovations and additions to the existing Commons and assisted living buildings. Improvements will enhance dining venues, resident gathering areas, fitness and wellness spaces, administrative offices, activity areas, circulation, and the main kitchen. New additions include a multipurpose cultural center, resident bistro, associated kitchen, and a welcoming porte-cochère entry.
Extensive site improvements will support the expanded campus, including new roads, sidewalks, utilities, retaining walls, parking, landscaping, grading, and the creation of an amenity wet pond that anchors The Terraces neighborhood. Because construction is taking place on an active senior living campus, Thompson Turner’s work will be carefully phased and coordinated to maintain operations, protect resident comfort, and support a positive experience throughout construction.
